Italy reduces excise tax on e-cigs but targets them in anti-addiction measures

Italy’s Budget Law for 2023 has updated the excise tax on e-liquids with and without nicotine, slowing down the 2021 Budget Law planned increase.

However, the announced measures to overcome tobacco addiction include e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products, widely considered tools to reduce traditional tobacco consumption.

The newly formed right-wing coalition government has increased excise taxes on e-liquids slightly over 2022, but it slowed down the increase projected by the previous administration.
