Vaping products are a heated topic in political and public debate in Malaysia. The debate reached its peak during the discussion of the Control of Smoking Products for Public Health Law 2023, which divided the debate between those advocating for the Generational Endgame (GEG) policy (imposing a ban on the sale and usage of tobacco and vaping products to anyone born on or after 1st January 2007) for vaping products and those arguing in favour of a controlled market.
The law was passed in the parliament in November 2023, setting a regulatory framework for both nicotine-containing and nicotine-free e-cigarettes, and is pending its publication in the Official Gazette.
This report offers detailed analysis of the current and near future regulation of vaping products in Malaysia, covering all policy areas.
