New Zealand: e-cigarette regulation, September 2023

The country recently announced new regulations that increase the regulatory burden on vaping, including new packaging and product safety requirements, licensing requirements for specialist vape retailers, and reporting requirements. The regulations will take effect at various times, ranging between 21st September 2023 and 21st March 2024.

Vaping products with and without nicotine are regulated by the Smokefree Environments and Regulated Products (Vaping) Amendment Act 2020 (“Amendment Act”) and the Smokefree Environments and Regulated Products Act 2021.
