Regulatory report: China, February 2021

The new amendment to the Law on the Protection of Minors is the first state law tackling e-cigarettes in China and could get more attention from policymakers as the country moves on from controlling the Covid-19 epidemic, but this is unlikely to happen in the first half of 2021.

This report provides a comprehensive summary of the current regulatory framework for vaping products in China, as well as an overview of possible future regulation should the new amendment be adopted.

This report provides an analysis of national legislation and will not tackle provincial and local restrictions, which are the subject of our China provincial report.
