Regulatory report: Kazakhstan, September 2020

In recent years, electronic cigarettes and heated tobacco have appeared in the Kazakhstani market, although until July 2020 no explicit and unambiguous legislation was applicable to those products. Kazakhstan’s legislation equalised novel tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, with regular cigarettes under the new code “On the Health of the People and the Health Care System”, which came into force on 18th July 2020. This report provides a comprehensive summary of the current regime in place in the country, including all of the relevant laws involved and those bodies responsible.
