Thailand’s blitz on illicit vapes renews calls for regulation over outright bans

Thailand is embroiled in a tussle over regulating vapes, after a government crackdown on an industry that is rampant – yet illegal – netted e-cigarettes worth millions of dollars and shut down operations serving the country’s voracious vaping market.

Since 2014, Thailand has banned the import of all e-cigarettes – regardless of nicotine content. A year later, the ban was extended to include the possession, manufacture, service and sale of all e-cigarettes and their components.
