E-cigarettes are considered tobacco products in Washington DC, and therefore are subject to the same restrictions, except when it comes to taxation.

No major changes to the current legal framework for e-cigarettes are expected in the near future since these products are not among the issues of public debate in the District of Columbia. However, the local government took an impactful step towards reducing tobacco initiation and addiction in DC by signing into law the Flavored Tobacco Product Prohibition Amendment Act of 2021, which bans the sale of tobacco products and e-cigarettes with flavours, including menthol.
