The future of tobacco alternatives will be a significant focus of regulatory attention in the European Union, as elections in June will see some 370m Europeans called to the polls to elect the 720 members of the next European Parliament.

Also of concern will be the reshaping of the narrative around harm-reduction strategies, especially vaping, heated tobacco products, nicotine pouches and other safer alternatives to smoking.
