4th December 2023: Czech Republic: The approved law (consolidated package) to introduce excise tax for e-liquids was sent for publication in the Collection of Laws on 1st December. E-liquids will be taxed at a rate of CZK2.5 (€0.10) per ml as of 1st January 2024. The rate will be adjusted annually, as follows: CZK2.5 (€0.10), CZK5 (€0.21), CZK7.5 (€0.31) and CZK10 (€0.41) per ml. The package also introduces the changes to the Act on the Protection of Health from the Harmful Effects of Addictive Substances, which prohibits any economic benefits when selling e-cigarettes and refills as of 2024.
28th November 2023: Czech Republic: Last week, the bill (consolidated package) to introduce excise tax for e-liquids was signed by the president. E-liquids will be taxed at a rate of CZK2.50 (€0.10) per ml as of 1st January 2024. The Ministry of Health overview stipulates that e-liquids will be taxed gradually over the next four years, as follows: CZK2.50 (€0.10) per ml, CZK5 (€0.21) per ml, CZK7.50 (€0.31) per ml and CZK10 (€0.41) per ml. If signed off by the president, e-liquids will be taxed at a rate of CZK2.50 (€0.10) as of 1st January 2024. If further approved by the Senate and signed by the president, e-liquids will be taxed at a rate of CZK2.50 (€0.10) per ml as of 1st January 2024. The Ministry of Health's overview states that e-liquids will be taxed gradually for the next four years, as follows: CZK2.50 (€0.10) per ml, CZK5 (€0.21) per ml, CZK7.50 (€0.31) per ml and CZK10 (€0.41) per ml.
